About

Guru Screener takes investing approaches that are famous enough to have names (Buffett's quality-and-value philosophy, Minervini's Trend Template, Piotroski's F-score) and turns each into a short list of yes/no tests. We run those tests against every S&P 500 company every night and show the result of each one, the number behind it, the threshold it was compared with, and a one-line explanation.

Why we built it

Most stock screeners give you a filter and a list. We wanted the reverse: start from one company and see, test by test, how it measures up against several very different philosophies. Seeing the working is the point. When a stock fails a test you can see by how much, and check the figure against the company's own filings.

What we are not

We're not financial advisers, and nothing on this site is a recommendation. The methods are our interpretations, labelled "inspired by" because the investors and authors they're named after haven't reviewed, endorsed or been involved with this site. Trademarked method names belong to their owners.

Where the data comes from

Company financials come from the US Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system: the structured (XBRL) data companies file with their annual 10-K reports. Daily closing prices come from Marketstack end-of-day prices. See how we score for the details.
